Youth & Reserve Squad Players
Gareth Graham
Midfield
Born : 6th December 1978, Belfast Weight : 10 st 2lb
Height : 5' 7"
Palace Debut : 24th April 1999 v Watford (a)

Gareth is a popular midfield player, and is another of Palace's bright young prospects.

He made his debut in the reserve team during the 96/97 season, coming off the bench as a substitute. He is a tough physical player, who had a memorable game against Liverpool during the 95/96 season (against one Michael Owen), in the F.A Youth Cup, where in a more defensive role he kept the Liverpool strike force at bay for almost the whole game.

His battling qualities are reminiscent of Hopkin and Pitcher, and Gareth also enjoys coming forward given the opportunity.

A member of the Southern Junior floodlit Cup winning team of the 96/97 season, he signed a pro contract with Palace at the start of 1997, and began to come more into the reserve side in the early part of the 97/98 season.

Cruelly - as he was beginning to establish himself, he broke his leg during a Surrey Cup match for the reserve side, and was sidelined for a long period recovering until very recently.

He has worked hard and battled back, and recovered his form in the early part of the 98/99 season, making his first appearances for a year, back in the heart of the reserve team midfield line-up. Quickly following from this he made a couple of long overdue appearances on the first-team substitutes bench without getting on the pitch until he made his league debut - albeit for only 13 minutes.
