Here's the latest news from Paul Rundle........

Firstly......

I watched AC Milan against Vicenza on Sunday, and Anderrson looked very
poor, as did all his teammates. I don't think I'd seen such a bad
performance by AC Milan, and Andreas looked exceptionally unhappy at the
service he was (not) receiving from his colleagues...

However, he looked strong and fast, and may be better suited to the Premier
League, rather than Serie A..

Anyway, now to some updates.

COPPELL BLASTS TEAM AFTER CUP EXIT
**********************************

Palace boss Steve Coppell blasted his team's sloppy defending after they
crashed out of the Coca-Cola Cup at the hands of lowly Hull.

The Premiership side won 2-1 on the night, but third division Hull, who
had won the second round first leg 1-0, went through on the away goals
rule.

Coppell said:

"Hull deserve to win over the two legs. We had 30-odd corners in the
two games and yet they scored from one. His marker was nowhere to be
seen. It was dreadful. Given the gulf between the teams - they have
won only once and lost seven games this season - it's a very
    disappointing result."

Coppell denied he had rested players from the two ties, adding:

"The players who haven't played in the two games against Hull have
been missing because they are injured and for no other reason."

He said that Attilio Lombardo, who missed both the Hull matches because
of a thigh injury, was improving slowly and could be considered for
Saturday's visit to Manchester United.

Hull's jubilant player-manager Mark Hateley praised goalkeeper Steve
Wilson for an heroic performance to keep Crystal Palace at bay in the shock
result of the night. Hateley said:

"Steve has had a tough time over the past year and in the summer I
brought in Scott Thomson and left Wilson out."

"The two keepers have worked really well together in training and
tonight Steve proved what a good shot stopper he is."

Hateley, struggling to explain Hull's lowly league position, said:

"We have played like that five or six times this season and lost
because we have been expected to win. Most of the team are only young
lads. I keep telling them to relax and enjoy themselves."

"At the same time I am trying to get better players in, but it takes
    time."

"In the dressing room afterwards I told them if we perform like that
we will start to climb away from the foot of the table. But we are too
inconsistent and that is what I find unacceptable."
