I am grateful to Dave Shaw in London who spotted the following article in today's SUNDAY PEOPLE....... TEL PLANS SPLASH **************** Terry Venables is in talks with Israeli left back David Amsalem about becoming Crystal Palace's new left back. Venables will sell Dean Gordon and is keen to snap up Amsalem from champions Beiter Jerusalem in a 300,000 deal. Dave Shaw. And Norman Paice in Stevenage tells us.... The reports linking Palace with David Amsalem an Iraeli international full back originated from an article in THE JEWISH CHRONICLE. He had trials with West Ham last year and he is also being tracked by Dutch Premier side Alkmaar. Norman Paice. ________________________________________________________ SALAKO RETURN ? *************** The following article in today's NEWS OF THE WORLD suggests Palace are tracking an ex-Eagle..... John Salako is considering a move from Bolton to second division Fulham. Kevin Keegan has offered a three-year deal worth around 600,000, but faces competition from Spanish club Espanol and Crystal Palace for the out-of-contract, ex-England winger. _________________________________________________________ And finally........ CUP DRAW DELAYED **************** The draw for the first round of the Coca-Cola Cup has been delayed until next week. The draw was expected this week but the Football League has decided to put it back until next week for reasons unknown. For the first time the first round will be seeded and will feature all First Division sides due to the number of Premiership sides competing in Europe this season. The seeding system ensures that all First Division clubs and the top 16 sides in the Second Division last season will not meet each other in the opening round of the competition. ________________________________________________________________
